If you ever wanted to hear a perfect example of paired down acoustic Folk music, you’d need not look any further than “The Murphy Beds”.
Dublin born, now based in New York, Eamon O’Leary and American Folk singer/songwriter Jefferson Hamer got together with just their two well matched tenner voices, acoustic guitar bouzouki, mandolin and banjo and made this finely crafted record.
They have delved into Irish and American Folk music and come up with some of the lesser known songs, beautifully arranging them for two well honed vocals and exquisitely picked acoustic instruments.
The only surprise is that I’ve only just discovered this masterful piece of work.
